Principles of Celestial Reality Part 2 – The Principle of the Double Portion

So that’s the principle of the double portion—the father dividing what he has, not what someone else has.

Hello and welcome, my fellow Gods, to another epic article on principles in the celestial realm. This article will be short and sweet and in it, we discuss the principle of the double portion.

Now, just to clear up some confusion, there’s this misconception in the church of Jesus Christ today about ‘double anointing’ or ‘triple anointing’ or how that some people have more anointing than others or whatever and I’m going to say this once and for all—it’s not true and neither is it even biblical. The place where they got it from is this insane idea about when Elisha told Elijah to let a ‘double portion’ of Elijah’s spirit to rest upon Elisha and the proponents of this double anointing thing don’t understand what this portion of scripture means. Elisha wasn’t a fool, and neither was Elijah. Elisha wasn’t asking for two times of what Elijah had. How could anyone give double of they have? Think about it, where would they get the other half? See the foolishness behind this double anointing nonsense?

Elisha wasn’t an idiot; he knew exactly what he was asking for. He wasn’t asking for Elijah to give him two times of what he had. Of course, when Elisha asked what he asked, Elijah responded that Elisha had asked a hard thing—not an impossible thing, rather a hard thing. If Elisha had asked for twice what Elijah had, Elijah would have told him that he had asked an impossible thing, rather he said a hard thing which means what Elisha asked was possible and thereby within reach of what Elijah could give.

So, then why do people say that Elisha got twice the anointing of Elijah? If this is true, then how come on the mount of transfiguration, it was Elijah who appeared to Jesus and not Elisha since he had half the anointing of Elisha? See the nonsense? The reason many make this claim is because some allegedly counted the number of miracles performed by Elisha versus the number of miracles by Elijah and found that Elisha’s miracles were double of what Elijah had and I call nonsense on this because when did we start measuring anointing based on number of miracles? Cause if so, then what about some of us who’s miracles can’t even be counted anymore? And even if it was possible, many have failed to prove how they allegedly counted the miracles performed by both and take it from me, the numbers never add up. Most who make these claims never actually counted the number of miracles. They just heard someone make this statement and went with it as gospel truth.

So, then what is the truth behind this double portion that Elisha was asking for? When you study its origins, you’ll discover that this is actually a principle in our kingdom too.

Origins of the Double Portion

“If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:

But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.”—Deuteronomy 21:17

This is what Elisha was asking for. Now, I know it might not immediately clear at first glance so let me explain this to you in a more practical sense:

If a man has six sons and wants to divide his inheritance among the six, God is telling this man to divide his inheritance into seven equal portions. So, each of the six sons gets a portion but the seventh portion goes to the first born. So, the first-born son gets a portion equal to his brothers, but he also gets the seventh portion which is to symbolize the right of the first born. This is done because upon the father’s death, the first born is the one to represent the father from that moment onwards. He becomes the father’s representative at the father’s passing so he gets the right of the first born and the right of a son. That means the first born gets a ‘double portion’ of what the rest of the sons got.

The Double Portion In 2 Kings

So, what was Elisha asking for when he told Elisha that he wants a double portion of his spirit?

Elijah was the head of the school of prophets at that time. And when you read the story, all the other prophets were aware by revelation that Elijah was going to be taken away that day, but they didn’t know exactly how. And they were even asking Elisha if he was aware that his master was going to be taken away that day.

Now, when Elijah was to be taken away, all these prophets were watching from a distance and wondering who was going to be the next head of the school of prophets—who was going to be the next head prophet for Israel among them after Elijah was taken away. Who would take Elijah’s place of leadership? And at that point, Elijah tells Elisha to ask whatever he wants before Elijah is taken away and Elisha tells him that he wants the right of the firstborn. He was to be the next head prophet—to take Elijah’s place of leadership. That’s why Elijah responds by telling him that he had asked a difficult thing. Nevertheless, he tells Elisha that if he sees him taken away then the right is his. Why does Elijah tell him this? Because it would take the eyes of that prophet to see Elijah being taken away.

Let’s read from scripture,

“And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.”—2 Kings 2:9-14

See that? Elisha asks for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit (the right of the firstborn), Elijah tells him that if he sees him be taken away, then it’s his. They’re walking for a little bit when a chariot of fire pulls up and whisks Elijah away, Elisha sees it, gets super excited. And while the chariot is flying off, Elijah’s mantle (his cloak or robe or whatever you want to call it) falls to the ground, and Elisha picks it up. The other prophets didn’t see Elijah be taken away. So, when Elisha came back they asked him if they could help him look for Elijah because as far as they were concerned, Elijah just disappeared or teleported the way he normally would from time to time. And from that moment, Elisha recognized that they didn’t see Elijah be taken away which further proved to him that he had inherited the right of the firstborn—he was now the head of the school of prophets.

So that’s the principle of the double portion—the father dividing what he has, not what someone else has.

How This Applies Today

Many Christians think that what they need to change their situation is more ‘power’ or more ‘anointing’ so they’re asking God for more anointing.

Let’s explore a little bit further the difference between what God already gave us and what most Christians are asking for when they ask for more anointing. When the Holy Spirit came to live in you, He came to live in you as a person—not as a fluid or water or vapor or whatever else many alleged prophets or pastors or whatever use to ‘minister’ this anointing to you i.e., in the form of ‘anointing oil’ or whatever. The Holy Spirit came as a person inside of you—without measure.

He didn’t come as a part of himself. He came in His completeness—without measure.

This was the difference between Jesus and the prophets of old. On the prophets of old in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit came to live on them in the form of oil or water. That is to say the Holy Spirit came to live with them—not in them. But that wasn’t the case with Jesus. In the case of Jesus, the Holy Spirit lived inside of Him. Not with him in the form of water or oil. That’s why Jesus was called the ‘Christ’ because this was a title used to symbolize that one person who had the Holy Spirit dwelling or living inside of Him and not on Him.

This is the same thing with you too as a Christian: the Holy Spirit came to live inside of you and make His home in you. Here’s proof,

“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God. As God hath said: “I will dwell in them and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.””—2 Corinthians 6:16

This proves that God lives inside of you. Want more proof?

“Out of the fullness of his grace he has blessed us all…”—John 1:16

Still not convinced?

“in Whom ye also are built together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.”—Ephesians 2:22

Honestly, if you’re not convinced by this point then just accept that you’re unpersuadable and no one can save you at this point.

Now, if a human who has the Holy Spirit inside of him is called the ‘Christ’, then what does that make you? Christ, right? Make sense now why the scriptures make statements such as,

“Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.”—1 Corinthians 12:27

Conclusion

If I am to conclude this article then let it be on this note: these principles and everything we discuss on my platform is for Christians and Christians alone. If you are not Christian then this cannot apply to you no matter what you try. And this is not me saying this, Jesus Himself says it,

Jesus saith unto him, I am the waythe truth, and the lifeno man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”—John 14:6

There is no other way to have this except by becoming Christians. Christianity is not just a religion. Read everything we’ve taken a look at from our very first article series on Who and What a Christian Really is for yourself to know what a Christian is. If you are here and haven’t given your life to God (and therefore aren’t Christian) then I offer you the opportunity to give your life to God.

Simply believing in God and in Jesus DOES NOT make you Christian.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.“—Romans 10:9

Paul tells us exactly how to become Christian. He says you need to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, and you need to confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. If you have never done this then you have not Christian no matter how often you go to church and no matter how good a person you are. So, right now, if you’re reading this and wish to give your life to God and become a Christian, repeat this prayer below out-loud to yourself wherever you are,

“O Lord, God,

I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God.

I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead.

I believe that He’s alive today.

I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day.

Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I am born again.

Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul!

I’m now a child of God. Hallelujah!”

Now if you said that prayer for the very first time and gave you life to the Lord today, congratulations: you are now a new creation! You are born again! And you are child of God from this day. Please, please, please reach out to me directly using my contact form or on the numbers given below and I will respond to you immediately: I have amazing gifts lined up just for you and I wish to help you through your Christian walk.
