The Spiritual World
To properly understand this discussion, we need to go back to the book of Genesis when God creates everything,
“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.”—Genesis 1:1
After reading this portion of scripture, one might wonder where God was before He created the heaven and the earth. Where were the angels before that point if there was no heaven to reside? The answer is that they must have been in a realm or reality that is much greater than both the heaven or the earth realm—the realm of the spirit. Heaven is a spiritual realm that was created to function alongside the earth.
Heaven is the spiritual place that controls everything that happens in the earth. Whenever anything happens in the earth—anything at all—it’s because it happened first in the heaven.
“In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a revelation was given to Daniel (who was called Belteshazzar). Its message was true and it concerned a great war. The understanding of the message came to him in a vision.
At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks.
I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris,
I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist
His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.
I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves.
So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless.
Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.
A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.
He said, ‘Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.’ And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.
Then he continued, ‘Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.
But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia.
Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.’
While he was saying this to me, I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless.
Then one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing before me, ‘I am overcome with anguish because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak.
How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.’
Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength.
‘Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed,’ he said. ‘Peace! Be strong now; be strong.’
When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, ‘Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength.’
So he said, ‘Do you know why I have come to you? Soon I will return to fight against the prince of Persia, and when I go, the prince of Greece will come;”—Daniel 10:1-21
Fascinating record of events, right? To put it in context for you, at this time Israel was ruled by the Persian empire (keep that in mind—the Persian empire). Daniel was a man who had an understanding of how the timeline was supposed to work for Israel. So, after he realized that something that should have happened at that time that did not happen for Israel, he set out to pray and fast for answers. Then on the 21st day of his prayer and fasting an angel finally comes with the answer to his question and tells Daniel that the day that Daniel started praying for answers twenty-one days ago, he was sent with the answer to deliver it to Daniel. So, then what delayed him for twenty-one days? Traffic in the spiritual world? No, the angel said that the prince of Persia arrested him. Where was this? This was in the heavenly places. Not in the physical places. So, the physical Persian empire that ruled Israel was run by a spiritual ruler called the prince of Persia. This directly connects how that the spiritual realm runs the physical realm. Physical Persia was run by spiritual Persia.
To continue the story, the angel then tells Daniel that after being detained for twenty-one days, Michael and an army of angels came to wage war against the prince of Persia (this is still in the spiritual world, by the way), and after Michael rescued the angel, he brought the message to Daniel. He then tells Daniel that once he has finished delivering the message to him, the angel will have to return to the war. This war was happening in the spiritual realm. Now, there was no war happening in the physical Persian realm but watch what happens next: the message that angel delivers to Daniel is that the Persian empire will fall and once that happens, it will be replaced by the prince of Grecia.
When you read further, you learn that the Persian empire eventually fell, and Greece came to conquer Israel and replaced Persia. Now, even though this later happened in physical realm in much later books, the physical battle happened in this 10th chapter of the book of Daniel. See how it works? The effect happens in the spiritual first before it manifests in the physical world.
So, this present earth is controlled by things that happen in the heaven. The earth is in the physical world and the heaven is in the spiritual world. The two worlds are entangled together such that everything that happens in the spiritual world propagates into the physical realm. If a bug moves from where it is to where it lands to next, it’s because its spiritual state moved first in the spiritual realm and the consequence of that movement is what physically propagated into this physical world that was perceived as it moving from point A point B. If the sun rises at the usual time it does in the physical world, it’s because it was first moved in the realm of the spirit. If you suddenly get a job in the physical world, its because that job first resulted in the spiritual realm which subsequently resulted in the effects being manifested in the physical realm. Similarly with sickness or poverty or failure or success or anything and everything—it all first happens in the spiritual realm before manifesting here whether you are aware of it or not.
Look at the story of Daniel we just shared. The king of Persia was first dethroned in the realm of the spirit before physically the Persian empire was dethroned from ruling over Israel. You see that? It all happens first in the spiritual realm before it happens in the physical.
Paul alludes to this heavenly realm when he says,
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.”—Ephesians 6:12
There’s a realm of the spirit that’s moving alongside the earth realm right now. The reason you don’t see that is because you’re seeing with your optical eyes.
When Adam fell in the garden of Eden, man was reduced to his senses and now he has to rely on his physical senses to know what things are—he has to see to know what things look like, or touch to know what things feel like or, or smell to know what things smell like, or taste or hear. Man’s 5 senses now become his educators. He does not know anything until his 5 senses dictate it to him. He can’t tell if something is hot until he feels it. He can’t hear a thing until its audible to him. Man has become a slave of his senses, yet he was never born that way.
When Adam sinned in the garden of Eden, the Bible records that he beheld that he was naked. What changed between the time before he ate the fruit and the time after he ate the fruit? Think about it, God comes looking for them in the garden and pretends not to know where they are, and Adam tells him that he hid because he was naked, and God asked who told them that they were naked? No one undressed them so what were they wearing before? What changed in that moment is that they were reduced to their senses.
Inversely, how did Jesus know he could walk on water? Look how Jesus talked to a tree, how did he know that he could talk to it? How did he know that by touching blind eyes, they’d open? How did he know that he could call a dead man out of the grave? The answer is because he functioned from another realm—it’s called the realm of life.
In the spiritual world, there are two realms that each function by different laws namely the realm of life and the realm of death. The physical laws of this world dominate in the realm of death. Similarly, there are spiritual laws in the realm of life, we looked at one in our last article on the law of faith.
You, as an entity in this reality—whether Christian or non-Christian—exists in the spiritual world. You have a spiritual body that either functions in the realm of death or the realm of life. The Christian functions in the realm of life while the non-Christian functions in the realm of death. Put simply, those who proceed from Adam function in the realm of death whereas those who proceed from Christ function in the realm of life.
The Realm of Death
Put simply, the realm of death is a realm of being cut away or separated from God. This realm originated from Adam’s sin in the garden of Eden.
Every man that’s born into this world is by default born into this realm of death in the spiritual world. Spiritually, a man is born into this world dead which means he is born separated from God—that’s what spiritual death means and trust me, that’s way worse than being physically dead.
Let’s take a look at its origins from the scriptures,
“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”—Genesis 2:16-17

These were God’s words to Adam. You know the story, Adam ate the fruit with his wife yet strikingly, they didn’t fall dead. So, what happened? The only thing that changed was that they discovered that they were naked and from then on, they began to hide from God. It was at this moment that man got separated from God.
There’s a very striking thing I’d love to point out to you about a very important attribute in the spiritual realm that happened when Adam ate the fruit. After eating the fruit, the scriptures record thus,
“Then the eyes of the two of them were opened [that is, their awareness increased], and they knew that they were naked…”—Genesis 3:7 [Amp]
Between the time he ate the fruit and after he ate the fruit, the only thing that changed was that man saw that he was naked—he saw! The amplified version puts it more directly by saying their awareness increased and that’s important, but we’ll talk about this in a moment. The more important question here for now is how did they see that they were naked? Did they not have eyes before? They surely did, meaning this must be a different kind of seeing that the scriptures are talking about. The best way to explain the type of seeing that they must have had is from Isaiah,
“Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities…”—Isaiah 33:20
In this verse, the prophet Isaiah wasn’t telling us to perceive Zion the way we stare at something in front of us with our optical eyes. The Hebrew word translated “look” there is “khaw-zaw” which means to see with the eyes of a prophet. In other words, it’s not just looking at something with the optical eyes, rather it is looking beyond the natural realm and into the spiritual realm—seeing the unseen. This is what happened when Adam and Eve had their eyes opened; they perceived with the eyes of a prophet that they were naked; they peered into the spiritual realm at their nakedness.

The moment Adam and Eve ate of that fruit, they saw that they were naked; fear had come upon them; they saw that the strength was gone from them; and the authority they had received from God was gone from them. So, they became afraid and ran away from God. They saw that something had gone wrong.
The scriptures record how that Satan is the god of this world,
“Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe.“—2 Corinthians 4:4
So, here we know that Satan is the god of this realm of death, meaning all the systems setup in this present world in all its financial systems, and economic systems, and communication systems, and political systems, all of it was setup by Satan. And the natural consequence of these systems is to lead and direct everyone born into this realm of death towards their eventual physical and spiritual death. This is why even Christians die even though they are not supposed to—because they function by the ambits of this world that leads men to their death.
That’s the reason Jesus said,
“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.“—John 3:3
Because, for as long as you’re born of this world, you are in this realm of death and are dominated by Satan and the systems of this world that he created. Notice Paul’s words in our reading above in 2 Corinthians 4:4 saying Satan has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They belong under the power of darkness. Think about what that means: to be dominated by sickness, disease, infirmity, the fear of death, failure, poverty—everything that subdues man and makes him subservient to the devil. To live in this realm is to be alienated from God because of ignorance,
“Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:“—Ephesians 4:18
The Realm of Life
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold (Greek: idou), all things are become new.”—2 Corinthians 5:17
This verse is very striking for a number of reasons but the most important of which in this context is how that after he tells us that the moment we become born again, we are (present tense) new creations and he immediately tells us to “behold” that all things have become new. The word translated “behold” in this scripture is the Greek “idou” which is akin to the Hebrew “khaw-zaw” which means to see but not with your optical eyes, rather to become aware. So, in this verse, Paul is saying now that you are a new creation, become aware of the fact that all things have become new; come alive to it.
Why is it important that immediately you become born again, you become aware to the fact that all things are become new? Why is it important that the moment we become born again, we should perceive it with the eyes of a prophet? It’s because when the old man began with Adam after they sinned, the first thing that happened is that they both “saw” and “became aware” of the fact that they were naked. So, now the new man begins, and God wants you to “see” in the same way that all things have become new.
Can you see it? That when you became born again, you were no longer a victim of this world; and that you have become a God; and that you have the righteousness of God; and that you have wisdom of God; and that you have inherited the whole world and it belongs to you; and that you have the fullness of God dwelling inside you. Can you see with the eyes of a prophet? In other words, can you become aware of these facts that once you became born again, each of these things became just as real to you as the very air you breathe right now?
Some people are born again but they do not see that all things have become new and yet the scriptures say see that all things have become new: see that you’re not a failure anymore; or a victim anymore; your past is gone and the new has come.
You see, from the time that you are born again, what God wants is for you to start seeing life differently.

What many Christians around the world need to understand is that when a man is born again, he is born as a baby in Christ. And what’s the first thing babies do when they’re born? They open their eyes to see. That’s why he says “See” that all things are new, meaning see your new world in Christ. But that’s not all God wants for you. He doesn’t just want you to be born and remain a baby. He wants the new baby to become a man.
You have to understand the difference between those who are babies in Christ and those who are matured in the things of God. Paul puts it this way,
“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” — 1 Corinthians 13:11
What does it mean to speak like a child, and understand as a child, and to reason as a child? It means making useless prayers like “Oh Father, please help me! Please Lord, help me in Jesus’ name.” or meaningless prayers like “Father, bless this food in Jesus’ name.” Do you understand how pointless that is? Firstly, what’s wrong is you just asked God to bless food for you but didn’t specify what blessing you want upon that food. But second and most importantly, for you to even need to ask God to bless food for you is a childish thing because God already ordained that everything you touch shall be blessed (Reference: Deuteronomy 28:8, and Deuteronomy 15:10).
And, do you know the natural consequence of these types of words, actions, and ways of thinking as a Child?
“Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:“—Galatians 4:3
Paul says when you are a child, you are in bondage to the elements of this world. We saw how in the last article on the law of faith and how that we sow what we want into our worlds with words. And if we don’t sow anything into our worlds, something will still grow and it’ll be what we don’t want to grow that will grow. So God says he wants you to grow up and put aside childish things. How do mature sons of God pray then? “Father I thank you today! Thank you that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus! Thank you because the wisdom of God is working mightily in my life today. I function as a child of God. I do not utter any foolish words. My thoughts and my heart are yielded to you. Father I thank you for the peace and rest that is upon my life and upon the lives of my family. We cannot but be in perfect peace. I decree joy into my life! I decree success into my life! I decree wealth in my life! The world belongs to me!”; those are the kinds of prayers God wants you to pray. He wants you to decree things into your life.
“Where the word of a king is, there is power;…”—Ecclesiastes 8:4
The word already shows us that we are kings which means our words carry power without us needing to even do anything other than speak. That’s why when we pray, it shouldn’t be prayers of asking God to do anything, it should be decreeing things under our office as kings, and thanking God for our lives. That’s how you walk and talk in the realm of life. That’s the kind of person God wants you to mature into. And its not just God who wants you to become mature, it’s also the natural world,
“The earnest expectation of the creation waiteth the manifestation of the sons (the matured sons) of God…“—Romans 8:19
The scriptures are telling us that all creation (the plants, the mountains, the wind, the stars, the resources— everything) is currently in pain because its being abused and misused by the children of the realm of death, and all creation is groaning and crying for the sons of God to mature so that they can finally be in the hands of the children of the realm of life.

So, God expects you to become aware of the fact that you live in this realm of life in the spiritual world. Paul makes a striking statement,
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.“—Ephesians 6:12
Paul reminds us here that even though we live in this physical world, our lives and our challenges are not physical. They are first spiritual. We, as Christians, are in constant war with these spiritual entities from the realm of death. But, the kind of war we are engaged in isn’t one of power or one that they can win—it’s a war of deception; a war where these entities keep trying to deceive us from the truth of who and what we are because they know that the only thing they need to do to knock God’s children down is to cause them to talk incorrectly thereby planting the wrong seed into their own lives. That’s the kind of war we are engaged in. So Satan will try to deceive you constantly, but you have to make up your mind to win. Remember the times Satan came to tempt Jesus? Jesus resisted him twice in that moment but Satan kept coming back because Jesus was only quoting the logos of God. When Satan tempted him, Jesus’ response was always “it is written” (and logos is the written word of God), so Satan kept coming back until the final time Satan tempted him and Jesus responded with “it is said!” He released Rhema because prior to that moment, he was only telling Satan what was written, he was only quoting what was written. Satan only left Jesus when he spoke Rhema. That’s how we win in this war. We use Rhema!
Conclusions
So, you as an entity in this present world are actually functioning in two worlds whether you see it or not. You are functioning in both the spiritual and the physical worlds, however, in the spiritual world it’s either you are under the realm of death or under the realm of life
If I am to conclude this article then let it be on this note: this realm of life and everything we discuss on my platform is for Christians and Christians alone. If you are not Christian then you cannot function in this realm of life no matter what you try. And this is not me saying this, Jesus Himself says it,
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”—John 14:6
There is no other way to have this except by becoming Christians. Christianity is not just a religion. Read everything we’ve taken a look at from our very first article series on Who and What a Christian Really is for yourself to know what a Christian is. If you are here and haven’t given your life to God (and therefore aren’t Christian) then I offer you the opportunity to give your life to God.
Simply believing in God and in Jesus DOES NOT make you Christian.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.“—Romans 10:9
Paul tells us exactly how to become Christian. He says you need to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, and you need to confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. If you have never done this then you have not Christian no matter how often you go to church and no matter how good a person you are. So, right now, if you’re reading this and wish to give your life to God and become a Christian, repeat this prayer below out-loud to yourself wherever you are,
“O Lord, God,
I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God.
I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead.
I believe that He’s alive today.
I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day.
Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I am born again.
Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul!
I’m now a child of God. Hallelujah!”
Now if you said that prayer for the very first time and gave you life to the Lord today, congratulations: you are now a new creation! You are born again! And you are child of God from this day. Please, please, please reach out to me directly using my contact form or on the numbers given below and I will respond to you immediately: I have amazing gifts lined up just for you and I wish to help you through your Christian walk. Feel free to read my article series on Who and What A Christian Really is to learn more about who you are as a Child of God, what it means to be a child of God, and what you have as a child of God.
Thank you so much for joining me on this amazing journey and I look forward to seeing you in my next article series where we discuss the Principles of Celestial Reality.
