This article picks up from were we left off in the previous one wherein which we explore the second classification of Celestial Knowledge, Eido. If you haven’t read the first part of this article series, I strongly recommend giving it a read. It’s titled Classifications of Celestial Knowledge Part 1 – Ginosko.
INTRODUCTION
Now if you thought Ginosko was awesome, then wait to understand Eido.
Eido (or Oida) is the Greek word usually used to translate another kind of knowledge in the Bible which represents a more intuitive knowledge, such as awareness,
“And we know (Eido) that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”—Romans 8:28
That’s perhaps one of my favorite verse in the whole gospel.
The word translated “know” there is obviously the Greek word “Eido” which means “awareness”.
So, just in case so many don’t really understand the significance of the scripture quoted above, let me take a little time to explain.
Now, we hear in the news so very often from broadcasters and newspapers concerning how it is that the world’s economies seem to be gradually falling hence, living costs and the like are getting higher. So how does the scripture above relate to such a situation?
The information contained in the Bible carries very serious implications and should never at any point be taken lightly. What you have in those written pages aren’t just stories and teachings of the master, Jesus, and the word He left for us to know while here on earth. What you have there is something of far greater value and you need to carry with you throughout your whole life as well as in the life afterward if you intend to reign as king in both.
The economic situation isn’t bent against you; it’s bent to be against the world. So, what’s going to determine whether it affects you negatively or not is whether or not you live by the standards of this world or the standards of the heavenly kingdom?
Jesus made a statement that:
“We are of the world but not of the world”
When you read John 15:19 and John 17:16. Here is a reiteration of what he implied in modern day English:
“You are in the cosmos, but you are not of the masses!”
This is what is implied in this portion of scripture here. Therefore, since we are not of the masses, what does that mean for us? That we shouldn’t follow the lifestyle of the masses because once we do, we are affected by the goods and the bads that the world (in all its systems) has to offer. It wouldn’t be the wisest thing to expect the world’s economic situation to get better.
WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE EIDO
Having understood that Eido is simply ‘knowledge of awareness‘, we know now to act accordingly to whatever things we are aware exist because, through awareness comes actions that are appropriate to best follow the things we are aware of.
Take gravity, for instance: we all know (are aware) of the law of gravity which says whatever goes up must come down. And that knowledge and awareness of gravity is what has been responsible for so many scientific inventions such as its applications in hydroelectric power generation, aviation, space exploration, and so on. All these scientific breakthroughs had been made possible through the awareness of such knowledge.
Similarly, with awareness of biblical knowledge and principles: perhaps the example that suits this context of description of Eido, would be the spiritual principle of giving seed (the more you give, the more you receive). So having awareness of such knowledge would subsequently cause people to act accordingly in order to take advantage of the results of such knowledge.
WHAT KNOWLEGDE WAS REFERRED TO IN HOSEA 4:6?
So many of you may already know and perhaps can even accurately quote Hosea 4:6, even without knowing it. For those of you think I’m kidding, read the verse below and tell me you didn’t know it by heart already:
“My people are destroyed for the lack of knowledge…”—Hosea 4:6
Since we are on the subject of ‘knowledge’, it’s only fitting that we take a look at this verse and best understand which type of knowledge the Lord was referring to.
Well, as many of you might already know, the Old Testament was written and translated from Hebrew and the New Testament from Greek. So since this verse is in the Old Testament and the kinds of knowledge we are looking at are taken from the Greek translation, it’s only now even more needful that we take a look at which he was talking about so that we don’t fall into the same class of “my people” that he was talking about.
The Hebrew word used there is “da’ ath” (pronounced dah-ath). This word is the Hebrew equivalent of Eido-meaning ‘awareness’.
So, take heed: don’t be defeated in life simply because you lack awareness. It’s far too embarrassing for Christians to be defeated with such blessings as have been bestowed upon them.
WHAT THINGS MUST WE BE AWARE OF AS CHRISTIANS?
Okay, as much as I’d love to get into the finer details as listing everything that we must be aware of as Christians, there’s simply too many to list in a single article so rather, we will go over some basics from the following short list of scriptures I personally find worth bringing to your mind:
“Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know (Eido) what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,” – Ephesians 1:15-18
Now, there’s a lot to go over in this verse but I will resist the temptation of getting into all the awesome things and stick only to what we are talking about now. So in this prayer, the Spirit through Paul goes on and on in His prayer for us about how He wants us to receive the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of Him. He prays also that our understanding should be illuminated (i.e., flooded with light). He points out that the reason He prays so for us is so that we may finally become aware of:
- The hope to which He has called us
- What the riches of His glory of His inheritance are
Just this portion alone gives two massive truths of things He wishes for us to be aware of so much so that He prays this earnestly for us. So then let’s take a deeper dive into what this ‘glory of the riches of his inheritance’ are. Paul offers
“For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.
In the case of a will,[d] it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it,
because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living” —Hebrews 9:15-17
Here, Paul goes on and on about how the old covenant had an inheritance attached to it and how that in order to receive that inheritance, one needed to fulfill the demands of that covenant first. He likens it to a will and says it would only be of effect once the person who wrote the will is proved dead and only then would the inheritance outlined in that will be released.
Now the one who created that will is the same one who created the inheritance too. And Paul says until it can be proved that the same who created the will actually died, then the inheritance cannot be released. But He did die: God became flesh and dwelt among us as Jesus —He died and was proved and witnessed to have died. This means the inheritance from that point could be released and distributed to everyone who was a partaker of that inheritance (that’s us).
Now, then how can you take possession of your inheritance if you aren’t even aware of what that inheritance is? See the need for Eido? Let me give you one example of the many things outlined in his will as our inheritance that became available the moment He was proved to have died:
“Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours
Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours”—1 Corinthians 3:21-22
These are not my words. These are the words of the apostle himself. He says that all things are ours: not somethings, or most things, but all things meaning everything with the exception of nothing—What an inheritance! Will you not become aware of these things—that all things are yours? What will it take to believe this if not the scriptures as proof?
Let’s take a look at one more place where Eido was used as an example so that we really understand what it means to have this kind of knowledge and its importance:
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know (Eido—become aware) that ye have eternal life (zōḗ), and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”—1 John 5:13
Sometimes I read the Bible and tears just start falling from my eyes. How is it possible that this is reality? How have so many people misunderstood such obvious statements? He says the reason he writes these things is so that we may become aware that we have God’s very same type of life. He says he wants us to become aware that already have it!
I could share a lot more on just this portion of scripture alone but I’m sure you understand the concept of the second classification of celestial knowledge by now.
So, that’s pretty much it on Eido—knowledge of awareness. It’s been such an amazing journey discovering the first two classifications and I hope that you enjoyed the journey too? In our next, we discuss the final and perhaps most important classification of celestial knowledge in our next article article.
Until next time, fam-squad!
CONCLUSION
If I am to conclude this article then let it be on this note: these principles and everything we discuss on my platform is for Christians and Christians alone. If you are not Christian then this cannot apply to you no matter what you try. And this is not me saying this, Jesus Himself says it,
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”—John 14:6
There is no other way to have this except by becoming Christians. Christianity is not just a religion. Read everything we’ve taken a look at from our very first article series on Who and What a Christian Really is for yourself to know what a Christian is. If you are here and haven’t given your life to God (and therefore aren’t Christian) then I offer you the opportunity to give your life to God.
Simply believing in God and in Jesus DOES NOT make you Christian.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.“—Romans 10:9
Paul tells us exactly how to become Christian. He says you need to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, and you need to confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. If you have never done this then you have not Christian no matter how often you go to church and no matter how good a person you are. So, right now, if you’re reading this and wish to give your life to God and become a Christian, repeat this prayer below out-loud to yourself wherever you are,
“O Lord, God,
I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, Son of the living God.
I believe He died for me and God raised Him from the dead.
I believe that He’s alive today.
I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day.
Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I am born again.
Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul!
I’m now a child of God. Hallelujah!”
Now if you said that prayer for the very first time and gave you life to the Lord today, congratulations: you are now a new creation! You are born again! And you are child of God from this day. Please, please, please reach out to me directly using my contact form or on the numbers given below and I will respond to you immediately: I have amazing gifts lined up just for you and I wish to help you through your Christian walk. Feel free to read my article series on Who and What A Christian Really is to learn more about who you are as a Child of God, what it means to be a child of God, and what you have as a child of God.
Thank you so much for joining me on this amazing journey and I look forward to seeing you in my next article where we discuss the Mirror Principle.
